Culturally and linguistically diverse job seekers

No matter what cultural background you are from, Job Network may be able to assist you. Your Job Network member can help you to identify what's been stopping you from finding a job if you have been unsuccessful so far. They may be able to provide interpreter services if you need them.

What should you do?

Register with Centrelink as 'Looking for Work'
They can assess your abilities and refer you to the type of employment service that can best help you to find a job.

Centrelink may refer you to Job Network
You will need to find out who the Job Network members are in your area. To do this, you could:

  • Ask Centrelink
  • Call Job Network members on 13 62 68
  • Look on jobsearch.gov.au
  • Ask family or friends who have used Job Network about their provider.
  • Choose a Job Network member to help you. It's important that you choose your Job Network member carefully. In most cases once you choose your Job Network member you'll stay with them until you find work.

For more information about the services that can help you, and a range of multilingual brochures, click here.

Migrants who arrive in Australia or are granted permanent residence are normally subject to a 104 week waiting period before they can receive most, although not all, Centrelink payments and access to the full range of employment services.

Clients should contact Centrelink to check their eligibility. Clients subject to the waiting period still receive basic services through Job Network.
